From the Hearts of the Sahabah – How They Learned the Qur’an
Share
The Sahabah (companions) of the Prophet ﷺ were not just listeners of the Qur’an—they were its protectors, memorizers, and the first teachers of this divine revelation.
Their Method of Learning
Many of the Sahabah, like Abdullah ibn Mas’ud and Ubayy ibn Ka’b, would memorize ten verses at a time. They would not move on until they understood and applied them. Qur’anic learning was not rushed; it was deep, meaningful, and lived.
A Story of Transformation
One day, Umar ibn Al-Khattab (RA), once a fierce enemy of Islam, was touched by the words of the Qur’an. Surah Taha entered his heart like light—and it changed him forever. This is the power of the Qur’an when it is approached with sincerity.
Reflection
Today, we may feel distant from the Sahabah. But the Qur’an they learned is still with us. The same verses that changed their hearts can change ours—if we approach it with love and patience.
